Appropriate and timely support, equipment and resources can be very important in enabling disabled people to fulfil their parenting role. In this issue a mother describes how she retains control as a parent while using the support of personal assistants. In Good Practice we explore ways in which Sure Start programmes can provide tailor-made support for disabled parents and their families. Adapted childcare equipment can enable parents to carry out essential activities such as lifting and carrying young children. Some ideas for this type of customised equipment are described in Resources. We welcome Krishna Ramamurthy, who recently joined DPPi staff as Information Development Officer and who is helping to develop additional formats for the journal. In addition to print and audiocassette, the DPPi journal is now available in Braille and electronically on our website (please see insert for details). Christine Winwood Next: Viewpoint....
