We are pleased to enclose with this issue a copy of Findings, a summary by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, of the recent National Family and Parenting Institute publication, Think parent: supporting disabled adults as parents. The institute undertook research in the UK into improving supportive practice for disabled parents. Please see Round-up of resources for details of how to obtain the full report. The internet can be a particularly accessible and convenient way of obtaining a whole range of services, contacts and information. Find out how to get the most from the internet in a feature under Parents experience. The National Service Framework for Children, Young People and Maternity Services, recently published by the Department of Health in England, recognises some of the needs of disabled parents and puts forward recommendations to further choice, equity and accessibility. These important and hopeful points are outlined in Good practice. Christine Winwood |
