This journal features two powerful personal experiences of parenthood, which raise important issues. A mother describes her experience of postnatal depression (PND), and her struggle to find support and regain her confidence. She reviews a new book about PND. Also featured is a new care pathway to help support mothers who have a history of PND. A parent writes frankly about inherited disability. She recalls moral questions that she faced before her pregnancy and the changing emotions she felt as it progressed. Other topics include direct payments and research into the effects on children of parental spinal cord injury. We aim for a mix of interesting, informative articles and are always keen to hear from you. Please complete the survey enclosed with your journal or online. We are delighted that the Royal Society of Medicine has seven people competing in the London Marathon in April to raise money for DPPI. Sponsors are very welcome.
