DPPI Journal 62: Summer 2008
From the editor
Our lead article reports on the discrimination and poor treatment that disabled mothers in developing countries face and how attitudes may be challenged and changed by raising awareness of disabled parenting.
Also in this issue, a disabled man and his wife describe, each from their own perspective, their experiences of fighting for his rights as a father. A research article develops this theme and discusses the importance of establishing agendas for research, policy and practice, aiming to highlight the experiences and needs of disabled fathers.
A good practice article, describes the development of an holistic approach in parental mental health care services that aims to tailor support to meet the needs of all the members of a family in which a parent has a mental health problem.
Several new, useful resources are reviewed — each is aimed at a particular group of parents and/or professionals.
We hope you will find the content of this issue both informative and thought-provoking.
